In a cloud of fog hovering over Hazelbrand, this morning we are harvesting elephant garlic, mint, daikon radishes, collards, pears and our first-ever Brussels sprouts. Planted and nourished in the way Masanobu Fukuoka's "do-nothing farming."
"I was aiming at a pleasant, natural way of farming which results in making the work easier instead of harder... ....To be here, caring for a small field, in full possession of the freedom and plentitude of each day, every day - this must have been the original way of agriculture."
What beautiful words on this beautiful day, dedicated to the laborers who built this world. I know that even as the summer harvest is waning, the Fall harvest is ready to help push you through the winter. God Bless you for your years of farming and for being good stewards of the land and animals. Hazelbrand, a spiritual and magical place, and its stewards are mighty and powerful gifts of love to us who have known you for so long.

Sheryl - do you remember the time you came for dinner - you asked what we were having - i said potatoes. and when you arrived, we went out and dug the potatoes???
DeleteI do, and it was wonderful, and then after dinner, we poured our coffee, and went out and milked the goat to cream out coffee - it was a truly magical evening.
